Overdue: A Magical Library LitRPG Adventure

Andrea Parsneau doesn’t just narrate *Overdue*—she *performs* it. Her Quinn is a perfect storm of sarcasm and exhaustion, grounding the story’s wildest moments in relatable humanity. The real magic, though, is in the side characters: Parsneau nails the smug, ancient voice of a sentient grimoire with the same ease she delivers a deranged, sentient romance novel that’s literally on fire. The production is crisp, with subtle sound design enhancing the Library’s eerie, ever-shifting halls—though I could’ve done without the overuse of abrupt audio cues that sometimes jolted me out of the flow. K.T. Hanna’s world is a delightful mess. The LitRPG mechanics are tidy, but the fantasy elements are gloriously messy—imagine *Good Omens* meets *Ready Player One*, if Stephen King wrote the NPC dialogue. The pacing is relentless, which works for the first two-thirds, but the final act’s rush to resolution left me wishing for a steadier hand. Still, the sheer inventiveness of the Library’s rules (like books that absorb memories or fines that literally age you) kept me hooked.
