About This Audiobook

Bradley Wright’s *Power Move* isn’t your average spy thriller—it’s a razor-sharp dissection of loyalty and survival in a world where trust is currency and bullets are negotiators. When Alexander King and his rogue team uncover a buried secret tied to one of their own, they’re forced into a brutal chess match where every move could ignite a global crisis. Wright’s plotting is surgical; he weaves Cold War intrigue with modern espionage, delivering a tale where the biggest threats aren’t just foreign operatives but the ghosts in the team’s own ranks. The tension escalates with every chapter, culminating in a finale that leaves you questioning who’s really pulling the strings. This isn’t just another thriller—it’s a masterclass in how to dismantle a spy story without ever losing its humanity.

The real knockout here is narrator Jarret Lemaster, whose voice crackles with the grit of a man who’s seen too much. His performance isn’t polished; it’s raw, with a gravelly timbre that fits King’s world-weary protagonist perfectly. Lemaster doesn’t just read the lines—he *inhabits* them, shifting effortlessly between King’s icy determination and the simmering rage of a man cornered. The audio production amplifies the claustrophobic tension, with subtle sound design that makes the listener feel like they’re right there in the room as the team’s carefully constructed facade begins to splinter. If you’ve ever wanted a thriller where the real enemy isn’t the other side but the secrets we keep from ourselves, *Power Move* delivers like a gut punch.

Editor's Review ★★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

I went into *Power Move* expecting another generic espionage romp, but Wright walked me right into a labyrinth of lies where every corridor leads to another betrayal. The story’s strength lies in its refusal to give anyone a clean slate—even the protagonist, King, is a man with blood on his hands who’s not above lying to his own team. The pacing is flawlessly judged; Wright keeps the pressure on from the first chapter, and by the time the team is chasing down leads in Prague and Berlin, I was completely hooked. Lemaster’s narration is the icing on the cake—his ability to convey exhaustion and calculation in the same breath turns what could have been a forgettable performance into something magnetic. That said, the supporting cast sometimes feels underutilized, with a few key characters reduced to near-ciphers in the audiobook. And while the ending is satisfying, it’s also a bit too neat given the chaos that preceded it. Still, these are minor quibbles in what is otherwise a standout thriller. If you love your espionage with a side of moral ambiguity and a dash of gallows humor, this one’s for you.
