Editor's Review ★★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

As I listened to Queer Ducks (and Other Animals), I found myself swept up in Schrefer's infectious enthusiasm and the narrators' captivating performances. From the opening chapters, it's clear that this audiobook is something special – the four-voice cast brings a level of energy and playfulness to the storytelling that perfectly complements Schrefer's engaging narrative. One of the standout aspects of the production is the way the narrators seamlessly transition between chapters, creating a sense of continuity and flow that draws the listener in. That being said, I did find some of the scientific explanations to be a tad too concise at times – I would have loved to see a bit more depth and detail in certain areas. Additionally, I sometimes felt that the narration, while excellent overall, leaned a bit too heavily on upbeat, celebratory tones, which occasionally felt at odds with the more serious themes and topics Schrefer tackles. Still, these minor quibbles aside, Queer Ducks (and Other Animals) is an absolute triumph, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a compelling, thought-provoking listen.
