The Burgon Beast isn’t just a boss—it’s a cosmic horror lurking in the code, and the way the story peels back its layers (and the protagonist’s sanity) is masterfully done. The first act hooks you with the promise of a high-stakes VR heist, but by the midpoint, you’re knee-deep in body horror and existential questions about what it means to be "alive" in a digitized wasteland. Proczko’s narration sells it all; his voice for the AI antagonist is *chilling*, and he nails the protagonist’s growing paranoia without overacting. That said, the middle drags slightly—there’s a stretch where the litRPG stats and inventory management feel like padding, and a few side characters blur together. But the payoff is worth it: the final act’s twist on the "rewind" mechanic is one of the most creative uses of time-loop logic I’ve heard in audio. The production quality is top-notch, with subtle sound design (like glitching audio during VR malfunctions) that enhances the immersion. If you love your fantasy with teeth and your sci-fi with a body count, this is a must-listen—just don’t start it before bed.
