Rewrite Our Story

I started *Rewrite Our Story* skeptical of another “I’ve loved you forever” trope, but Singleton flips the script by refusing to coddle her heroine’s devotion. The narrator’s heartbreak isn’t performative—it’s raw, the kind that leaves you squirming in your seat when she catches a glimpse of Cade’s boots on someone else’s porch. Aaron Shedlock and CJ Bloom share narration duties, and their chemistry is electric, with Shedlock nailing Cade’s cocky, wounded masculinity and Bloom grounding the protagonist’s quiet, simmering fury with a voice that crackles like summer heat on cracked leather. That said, the audiobook occasionally stumbles over a few underdeveloped side characters whose motivations feel like afterthoughts, and the final act races a bit too hastily toward resolution. Still, Singleton’s voice is a fresh gust in the crowded western romance field, and the production quality is crisp enough to hear every regret in the protagonist’s sighs.
