I’ll admit, I rolled my eyes at the ‘werewolf SWAT team’ concept—until Abby Craden’s narration sold me on it within the first chapter. Her performance is *that* good: she nails Samantha’s sarcastic internal monologue (think a bomb tech who’s seen too much BS) while giving the male leads a rugged gravitas that avoids the usual alpha-male clichés. The chemistry between her and the rogue wolf, Lucas, crackles with a push-pull dynamic that’s as much about trust as it is attraction. Tyler’s writing shines in the action sequences—hostage negotiations and shootouts feel ripped from a crime thriller, not a romance—and the supernatural elements are woven in without overshadowing the human (and lupine) stakes. That said, the middle act drags slightly with repetitive ‘will they/won’t they’ tension, and the villain’s motives could use more depth. But the pacing picks up in the final third with a twist that genuinely surprised me, and Craden’s delivery during the climax—breathless, raw, and laced with desperation—had me gripping my headphones. The production quality is flawless: no awkward edits or volume spikes, just immersive sound that pulls you into the Texas backroads and high-stakes hideouts. If you love your thrillers with a side of paranormal heat (and a narrator who can growl *and* pur), this is a standout. Just maybe don’t start it before bed—you’ll be up late.
