Schooled in Magic

I devoured Schooled in Magic in one sitting, thanks in large part to Tavia Gilbert's engaging narration. Her performance brings Emily's relatable teenage angst and determination to the forefront, making it easy to become invested in her journey. The pacing is well-balanced, with a good mix of quiet moments and explosive action sequences. One area where the story stumbles is in its somewhat predictable villain motivations, but this is largely offset by the world-building and character development. My only production quibble is that some of the supporting characters' voices can be a bit hard to distinguish at first, but Gilbert does a great job of making them distinct as the story progresses. Overall, this is a compelling listen that's sure to appeal to fans of young adult fantasy.
