I was immediately drawn into 'Showdown bei Alamo'. Lontzek's narration is excellent, his pacing spot-on, and his ability to differentiate characters impressive. The story is a tense, claustrophobic affair, with the impending Union attack looming large. Andrews doesn't shy away from the grim reality of war, and the result is a story that feels both immediate and timeless. My only critique is that some secondary characters could use more development, but this is a minor quibble in an otherwise excellent audiobook. If you're a fan of Westerns or military fiction, this is a must-listen.
