Listening to Silent Refuge is like being trapped in a post-apocalyptic nightmare, and I mean that in the best way possible. The sheer scale of the story is impressive, with Stone painting a vivid, terrifying picture of a world unraveling. The narration is top-notch, with Trepanier and May bringing a realism to their characters that makes the story all the more compelling. However, the pacing can feel a bit uneven at times, with some sections moving at a snail's pace while others race by in a blur. Also, while I appreciate the focus on Caroline's journey, I found myself wishing for more depth in the supporting characters. But these are minor quibbles in an otherwise gripping listen. If you're looking for a long, intense journey into a world gone dark, Silent Refuge delivers in spades.
