His voice has a warm, gravelly richness that makes even the densest passages feel intimate, like he’s leaning over your shoulder to point out something fascinating in the sheet music. There were a few moments where I wished he’d leaned harder into Stravinsky’s darker, more ironic side—some of the drier sections drag slightly under his light touch—but overall, his performance elevates the book from a great listen to an *essential* one. The production is crisp, with no muffled audio or distracting breaths, though I did notice a faint echo in a couple of sections that pulled me out of the flow. That said, *Simply Stravinsky* is the rare audiobook that feels like it was made *for* listeners, not just readers forced into earphones.
