Skyshade (Spanish Edition)

I’ll admit, I started *Skyshade* expecting another YA fantasy with a thin veneer of drama slapped over a clunky prophecy. Boy, was I wrong. Aster’s story doesn’t just walk the line between political intrigue and personal agony—it juggles them like Molotov cocktails. Isla’s duality isn’t just a clever twist; it’s the engine of the book, and Del Tío’s narration turns that internal struggle into a physical presence. She nails Isla’s conflicted devotion to Oro’s golden decadence and Grim’s ruthless pragmatism, her voice flickering between exhausted hope and white-hot defiance. The pacing is relentless, which makes the quieter character moments—like Isla’s fractured conversations with her ghostly mother—feel even more devastating by contrast. That said, the book isn’t without its scars. The worldbuilding leans heavily on exposition dumps disguised as dialogue, and some secondary characters exist solely to shout exposition into the void. Worse, the romance subplot feels like it was duct-taped into the narrative, popping up just often enough to derail the momentum without earning its payoff. Production-wise, the audio quality is pristine, but the lack of dynamic compression in certain action scenes made the clashing steel sound tinny, like a sword fight conducted in an echo chamber. Still, these flaws don’t bury the story—if anything, they make the moments that *do* work (and there are many) hit even harder. *Skyshade* isn’t perfect, but it’s unforgettable.
