The Adults

As someone who's always been fascinated by the intricacies of human relationships, I found The Adults to be a riveting listen. Gilbert's narration is a major part of the book's success, her voice imbuing the characters with a sense of depth and nuance that's hard to find in many audiobooks. One of my favorite aspects of the story is the way Espach subverts the expectations of the affluent suburban lifestyle, revealing the cracks and fissures that lie beneath the surface. If I have any criticisms, it's that the supporting cast feels a bit one-dimensional at times, and some of the plot twists are predictable. However, these are minor quibbles in what is otherwise a compelling and thought-provoking listen.
