He doesn’t *act* so much as *inhabit*—his Major Lennox is all military briskness masking a mind unraveling at the edges, while Swift’s weary cynicism feels earned, not performed. The pacing, though, is where the audiobook stumbles slightly. The first hour drags with setup that could’ve been tighter, and a mid-book lull tests patience when the investigation hits a wall. That said, the payoff is worth it: the final act delivers a twist that’s both shocking and, in hindsight, *painfully* foreshadowed. My only real gripe?
