The Cut

I was immediately drawn into 'The Cut' by its unique setting and Sadie's relatable, if flawed, protagonist. The hotel's decay and the lake's ominous presence are so vividly described, I felt like I was right there with Sadie, shivering in the cold and dreading every creak and groan. Jenn Lee's narration is excellent, capturing Sadie's fear and desperation with such intensity that I found myself holding my breath during tense moments. The pacing is near-perfect, building slowly but steadily to a satisfyingly chilling climax. My only critique is that some of the supporting characters could have been more fully developed, but this is a minor quibble in an otherwise outstanding audiobook. If you're a fan of atmospheric horror with a strong central character, 'The Cut' is a must-listen.
