Listening to The Forge of Darkness felt like being trapped in a bunker with Mitch and April, huddling together for warmth and comfort. Virtual Voice's narration is nothing short of exceptional. The voice actor masterfully captures the desperation and fear in Mitch's voice, and the strength and determination in April's. The pacing is spot on, building tension and releasing it at just the right moments. The production is minimalistic, allowing the story and performances to take center stage. However, I found some of the descriptions of violence a bit too graphic for my taste, which might be a trigger for some listeners. Overall, this is a powerful audiobook that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end.
