As an avid fan of science fiction and fantasy, I was blown away by the sheer scope and imagination of 'The Hero'. However, at times, I felt that the pacing could have been slightly tighter, especially during the mid-book section where the story threatens to become bogged down in exposition. Nevertheless, De Ocampo's performance is so strong that it effortlessly carries the listener through even the most challenging moments. One of the standout aspects of 'The Hero' is its clever subversion of gaming culture. Sugralinov's use of MMORPG tropes is both loving and biting, creating a narrative that is both a loving tribute to gaming enthusiasts and a scathing critique of their excesses. As a result, the story feels refreshingly original and thought-provoking, making it a compelling listen for fans of science fiction and adventure. With its engaging characters, breakneck pace, and memorable world-building, 'The Hero' is an absolute triumph, and I can't wait to see what Sugralinov and De Ocampo create next.
