The Interview

I went into *The Interview* expecting a slow-burn corporate thriller with a twist or two, but C. M. Ewan delivered something far more relentless—and frustratingly uneven. Georgia Maguire’s narration is the standout here; her ability to shift from soothing professionalism to breathless urgency sells the high stakes, especially in the final act where the production drops into near-silence during a break-in sequence. That’s the good news. The bad? The plot hinges on a series of implausible coincidences that pile up like a Jenga tower in a hurricane. A security detail conveniently missing for 12 minutes? A suspect miraculously appearing in an unlocked stairwell? It’s all played straight, and the lack of logical connective tissue strains credibility. The pacing, too, is a rollercoaster: tight and gripping for the first two acts, then it stalls in a drawn-out denouement that feels more like an epilogue than a climax. Maguire’s performance can’t save a story that too often relies on shock over substance. If you’re after a slick, narrated thriller with a veneer of sophistication, this might scratch the itch—but don’t expect the tight plotting or depth that elevates the best in the genre.
