As a listener, I was immediately drawn into The Pike's moody and atmospheric setting. Green's narration is exceptional, his ability to capture the nuances of each character making the story all the more engaging. The pacing is excellent, with Richards expertly balancing suspense and intrigue, never allowing the listener to become complacent. The story is well-crafted, with a satisfying twist that I didn't see coming. However, I did find some of the supporting characters a bit one-dimensional, which was a slight letdown in an otherwise impressive audiobook. Overall, The Pike is a must-listen for fans of British crime thrillers, offering a compelling narrative and a unique insight into the Lancashire countryside.
