About This Audiobook

In 'The Queen's Pardon', J.A. Sutherland masterfully blends military sci-fi with high-stakes survival, delivering a gripping tale of resilience and resourcefulness. Alexis Carew, our determined heroine, finds herself stranded on a treacherous planet, fighting not just for her life, but for the lives of her crew. Sutherland's world-building is impressive, painting a vivid picture of a harsh, unforgiving environment, teeming with deadly creatures and ruthless pirates. What sets this audiobook apart is its unapologetic focus on character development and moral ambiguity, making it a standout in the genre. Elizabeth Klett's narration is a perfect fit, bringing a gritty realism to Alexis' struggles and a thrilling intensity to the action sequences.

Editor's Review ★★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

I was immediately drawn into 'The Queen's Pardon' by its unique premise and compelling protagonist. Sutherland's writing is taut and engaging, keeping the tension high as Alexis and her crew navigate the perils of their new world. Klett's narration is exceptional, capturing the nuances of each character and bringing the story to life. Her ability to convey the desperation and determination in Alexis' voice is particularly noteworthy. The pacing is excellent, balancing moments of intense action with quieter, character-driven scenes. My only critique is that some of the secondary characters could have been more fully developed, but this is a minor quibble in an otherwise outstanding audiobook. If you're a fan of smart, character-driven sci-fi with a healthy dose of action and intrigue, 'The Queen's Pardon' is a must-listen.
