Calvert’s strength lies in his ability to weave hard science (the lunar environment, signal analysis) with a psychological slow burn. The artifact’s discovery isn’t just a plot device; it’s a mirror held up to humanity’s hubris, and the way the characters react—some with awe, others with paranoia—feels painfully real. That said, the middle act drags a bit under the weight of its own ambiguity. There’s a fine line between mysterious and vague, and the story occasionally stumbles over it, leaving you wondering if the lack of answers is intentional or just underdeveloped. Gary Tiedemann’s narration, though, is a saving grace. He avoids the trap of overacting, delivering even the most technical passages with a quiet intensity that keeps you hooked. His characterization of the NASA team is particularly strong—each voice distinct but never cartoonish. The production quality is flawless, with no distracting edits or volume inconsistencies. My one critique? The female characters occasionally feel underwritten, their dialogue leaning into stereotypes (the emotional scientist, the by-the-book administrator) that pull you out of the immersion. Still, if you’re a fan of cerebral sci-fi that prioritizes atmosphere over action, this is a standout. Just don’t expect a tidy resolution—some signals are meant to linger.
