The Succubi

I dove headfirst into 'The Succubi' expecting a dark, pulpy fantasy adventure, and boy, did Apollos Thorne deliver. But what I didn't expect was to be drawn in by the complex, often fraught relationships between the characters. Halstead's performance is nothing short of phenomenal, bringing a sense of weight and urgency to every scene. His Elorion is a gruff, world-weary protagonist with a heart of gold, and I found myself rooting for him from the very start. That being said, some listeners may find the pacing a bit uneven, particularly in the latter half of the book. The plot twists and turns at a breakneck speed, and some scenes feel a tad rushed. Additionally, a few supporting characters feel a bit one-dimensional, lacking the same level of depth and development as the main cast. Still, these are minor quibbles in an otherwise captivating audiobook that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end. With its gripping narrative, memorable characters, and top-notch production, 'The Succubi' is an absolute must-listen for fans of dark fantasy and science fiction.
