Listening to this audiobook was like being invited to a delightful tea party on the riverbank. The ensemble cast is nothing short of exceptional. Cush Jumbo's Lady Toad is a riot, balancing hilarity with heart, while Harriet Walter's Mistress Badger is a formidable force, her voice resonating with wisdom and gravitas. The pacing is spot on, capturing the leisurely meanders of the river and the breathless excitement of high-stakes adventures. However, a few transitions between scenes could be smoother, and there are moments where the production could benefit from a touch more subtlety in its sound effects. But these are minor quibbles in an otherwise enchanting listen.
