Harrie Hayes' narration is nothing short of captivating. His ability to modulate his voice for different characters ensures that you can easily distinguish between Eliza Caine, her charges, and the spectral entities that haunt Gaudlin Hall. The pacing is tight, with Boyne’s well-paced storytelling drawing listeners in from the first moment when Eliza steps off the train. However, there are a few predictable twists that might disappoint those expecting total originality.
