Terry isn’t a blank slate or a wish-fulfillment avatar; he’s a 30-something burnout who treats his new fantasy world like a poorly documented API. His internal rants about "respawn mechanics" and "NPC dialogue trees" had me laughing out loud, but the humor never undercuts the tension. When the story pivots from satire to genuine danger, it lands because Dontigney earns it—no deus ex machina, just Terry’s scrappy, often desperate problem-solving. Eric Michael Summerer’s performance is a masterclass in restraint. He doesn’t lean into cartoonish voices for side characters, which keeps the focus on Terry’s perspective. His delivery of Terry’s sarcastic asides is *chef’s kiss*—dry enough to feel authentic, but never monotonous. My only critique? The fight scenes, while well-written, occasionally get lost in the audio mix. The sound engineering is clean, but the rapid back-and-forth of combat can blur together if you’re not fully engaged. And while the ending sticks the landing, the middle act drags slightly with repetitive "system message" interludes that wear out their welcome. Still, this is one of the few isekai stories that feels like it was written by someone who’s *actually* critiqued the genre—not just consumed it.
