I went into Wasteland expecting a typical epic fantasy, but what I got was so much more. The world Goodkind created is brutal and unforgiving, and John Skelley's narration brought it to life in a way that left me breathless. The characters are complex and multi-dimensional, with motivations that aren't just black and white. But what really stood out to me was the pacing – it's relentless, hurtling forward with a breakneck speed that's both exhilarating and exhausting. At times, the story feels a bit overly convoluted, with plot twists that feel like they come out of nowhere. But overall, it's a minor quibble in what's otherwise a masterful fantasy epic. One of the things that really impressed me about John Skelley's narration was his ability to convey the emotional intensity of the story without ever feeling over-the-top. He's a true pro, with a voice that's both deep and resonant. I also appreciated the way he handled the different characters, each with their own unique voice and personality. If I have any criticisms, it's that at times the dialogue can feel a bit stilted or forced, but that's a minor complaint in what's otherwise a phenomenal narration. Overall, I'd highly recommend Wasteland to anyone who loves dark, gritty fantasy.
