The structure is brilliant: each section answers a specific, urgent question, and the brevity is a feature, not a flaw. That said, the lack of human inflection can feel jarring during more poignant moments, like when discussing how to handle a parent’s digital legacy. A human narrator might have subtly softened the tone there, but Virtual Voice plows ahead with the same even cadence. It’s efficient, not comforting. Also, the book assumes a level of organizational access—knowing where documents are, having login info—that many won’t have, with little guidance on what to do when you don’t. Still, for its laser focus on actionable steps and its respect for the listener’s overwhelmed state, this is the only grief-related audiobook I’ve actually listened to more than once.
