Of course, no audiobook is perfect, and I did find myself occasionally yearning for a bit more depth in certain areas. For example, while Shambaugh does an excellent job of outlining the key players and interests at play in Southeast Asia, I felt that some of the regional nuances were glossed over in favor of more general insights. Additionally, at times, the pacing can feel a bit slow, particularly for listeners who are not familiar with the subject matter. However, these minor quibbles aside, 'Where Great Powers Meet' remains an essential listen for anyone interested in geopolitics and international relations.
