Hardisty’s narration is a masterclass in restraint; his portrayal of Sebastian’s hardened exterior hiding a heart that still beats for Liv feels like eavesdropping on someone’s most private thoughts. Rose matches him beat for beat, her voice dripping with the kind of emotional rawness that makes you pause the audiobook just to take a breath. That said, the middle act drags slightly under the weight of its own melodrama, and the resolution, while satisfying, wraps up a tad too neatly for what’s otherwise a brutally honest story.
