She cracks up mid-sentence, deadpans absurdities, and somehow sells even her most cringe-inducing 20s-era journal entries with the conviction of someone who’s long since made peace with her past. The cameos are the real treasures: Carol Burnett’s cameo is a masterclass in vocal control, Kathleen Turner’s narration of a chapter about aging hits like a velvet hammer, and Mike Schur’s nerdy interjections feel like a bonus track you didn’t know you needed. That said, the audiobook stumbles when Poehler leans too hard into the “just me rambling” gimmick—several chapters drag as she over-explains jokes that land just fine without the preamble. The production is otherwise slick, though, with seamless transitions between voices and a runtime that flies by in the best ways. The only real misstep? The book’s structure feels like it’s still figuring out its tone—part memoir, part advice column, part roast session—which can make it feel disjointed. But if you’re here for Amy’s voice (literally and figuratively), you’ll forgive the hiccups.
