Bones of the Witch: A Young Adult Fae Fantasy

I dove into 'Bones of the Witch' expecting a typical young adult fantasy, but what I found was a genuinely gripping mystery wrapped in fae lore. Listening to Marni Penning narrate this story was a treat—her voice is clear, atmospheric, and effectively conveys Georjie's mix of youthful impatience and burgeoning power. She really drives the narrative forward, making the already intriguing plot even more compelling. The story wastes no time diving into danger, and the pacing is excellent, keeping me hooked with each twist and narrow escape. Knorr excels at building that unique blend of paranormal tension and historical mystery in Scotland. The descriptions of the Highlands and fae realm are rich and evocative. However, while the central mystery was thrilling, some of the secondary characters felt a bit underdeveloped, serving mainly as plot devices. Also, towards the latter half, the supernatural elements felt slightly rushed in execution, which briefly pulled me out of the immersive experience. Overall, it's a fantastic, fast-paced listen that delivers on its promise of adventure and chills.
