I was hooked from the very first sentence, and Tom Jordan's narration only served to intensify my immersion. His voice is the perfect blend of authoritative and vulnerable, perfectly capturing Dr. Bixby's struggle to maintain composure in the face of the inexplicable. The pacing is masterful, with Kaine expertly balancing moments of intense action with slower, more introspective passages that allow the horror to truly sink in. My only critique is that some of the scientific jargon could have been explained a bit more clearly for those not well-versed in medicine. However, this is a minor quibble in an otherwise outstanding audiobook experience. If you're a fan of thrillers that will make your skin crawl, Gunther is an absolute must-listen.
