I went into Hostile Work Environment expecting a straightforward tale of office politics gone wrong, but what I got was a gripping exploration of the human psyche, where the surface-level drama conceals a far more sinister reality. As the story spirals out of control, Virtual Voice's narration becomes increasingly measured, injecting a sense of urgency into the narrative that matches the protagonist's growing desperation. While the supporting cast can feel somewhat one-dimensional at times, the core mystery is expertly woven, with clues and red herrings skillfully scattered throughout the narrative. Where the story falters slightly is in its somewhat abrupt resolution, which may leave some listeners feeling like they've been left with more questions than answers. Nevertheless, Hostile Work Environment remains a gripping, unputdownable listen that will linger in your mind long after the final credits roll.
