That said, the audiobook isn’t flawless. The sheer number of POVs can feel overwhelming in audio format; I found myself wishing for a brief tonal cue (a shift in pitch, perhaps) when switching between Chaol’s angst and Dorian’s darker arc. And while Allwright nails the female characters, some of the male voices—particularly the deeper registers—occasionally blur together in crowded scenes. Still, the production quality is impeccable: no awkward edits, no volume spikes, just a relentless, cinematic experience. If you love fantasy that balances grand strategy with raw emotion, and narration that *performs* rather than recites, this is your next obsession. Just clear your schedule—you won’t pause it.
