Monsters

As an editor, I was instantly drawn into the world of 'Monsters', where the gleaming facades of Silicon Valley's tech giants hide dark secrets and sinister motives. Kevin Kenerly's narration is a key part of this experience, bringing Heidi Waters' character to life with a sense of vulnerability and intensity that's impossible to ignore. I was particularly impressed by the way Rogers wove together multiple plot threads, creating a sense of tension that builds slowly but inexorably towards a shocking climax. If I have one criticism, it's that some of the supporting characters feel a bit one-dimensional, with motivations that are occasionally hard to follow. However, this is a minor quibble in what is otherwise a masterful thriller. Rogers has a keen eye for the way power and privilege can warp individuals and corrode relationships, and his writing is both razor-sharp and beautifully evocative. 'Monsters' is a must-listen for fans of the genre – just be prepared to stay up late, turning the pages (or, in this case, the audio chapters!) to find out what happens next.
