I’ll admit, I was skeptical of a cozy mystery where the amateur sleuth’s husband is the lead detective—until I heard Kasey Logan’s performance. Her voice crackles with dry humor, effortlessly balancing Marty’s sarcastic wit with moments of genuine tension. The pacing is tight, with Harman keeping the red herrings fresh without overwhelming the listener. That said, there’s one recurring character whose mannerisms felt a little too on-the-nose, and the resolution of the lottery subplot wraps up a bit too neatly for my taste. Still, Logan sells Marty’s reactions so well that I didn’t mind the occasionally predictable turns. The production quality is crisp, with just enough ambient sound to place you in the scene without distracting from the storytelling. If you love mysteries where the amateur sleuth is more Nancy Drew than Jessica Fletcher—sharp, flawed, and unapologetically nosy—this is your audiobook.
