Sombras de identidad (Wax & Wayne 2)

I dove back into Scadrial with 'Sombras de identidad' and was immediately hooked by Brandon Sanderson's continuation of the Wax & Wayne adventures. Following the events of 'The Lost Metal,' Sanderson throws our heroes into a maelstrom of political intrigue and outright war, pushing the established magic systems even further. The evolution of Feruchemy felt fresh and exciting, with new abilities and concepts explored seamlessly integrated into the high-stakes narrative. While the political maneuvering sometimes became dense, the central characters drive the story forward with renewed intensity, particularly through Yhaka's determined quest and Marsh's race against time. Francesc Belda's narration is, as always, superb. He captures the distinct personalities of every character, from Wax's cynical smoothness to the frantic energy of Vin in her less prominent scenes, and perfectly conveys the tension and urgency of the unfolding plot. The pacing is relentless, though occasionally overwhelming during the densest political moments. Overall, it's an essential listen for Cosmere enthusiasts and a testament to Sanderson's worldbuilding. My only minor critique is that the sheer volume of information sometimes feels like a slight readability dip in the audiobook format, but it's still an incredibly rewarding experience.
