CJ Bloom and Jack Dupont are the dynamic duo this audiobook deserves. Bloom’s sultry, smoky voice captures the heroine’s journey from guarded to gloriously unraveled with a precision that makes even her internal monologues feel like whispered secrets. Dupont’s Angel is all growly restraint, his gravelly tone dripping with the kind of arrogance that makes you want to slap him—and then kiss the sting away. Together, they turn Marsh’s dialogue into a verbal foreplay that had me rewinding just to savor the delivery. The production quality is crisp, with no muffled breaths or awkward pauses to yank you out of the moment—until the very end, where a single audio glitch near the climax briefly ground the spell to a halt. (A minor sin, but one that stings in an otherwise flawless performance.) The story itself is a slow-motion train wreck you can’t look away from. Marsh doesn’t waste time on flowery descriptions of sunsets or sweeping vistas—her ranch is a character, but it’s a gritty, corporate one, all boardroom deals and backroom bargains. The sex scenes are satisfyingly explicit but never gratuitous, woven into the narrative like a necessary storm rather than a tacked-on spectacle. Where the book stumbles is in the final act’s resolution, which feels slightly rushed after the meticulous buildup. The emotional payoff lands, but it’s delivered with less finesse than the rest of the story, as if Marsh was eager to tie up loose ends at the expense of lingering on the raw, messy feelings that made the earlier scenes so compelling. Still, if you’re here for the heat without the hand-holding, *Stripped Down* delivers in spades.
