I was hooked from the get-go. The discovery of a second body at the same spot sends shivers down your spine, and Brolly expertly milks that sense of unease throughout. Cohen's narration is a perfect match for the story, her steady, almost clinical delivery lending a chilling edge to the proceedings. The pacing is excellent, with just the right balance of action and introspection. My only minor gripe is that some of the supporting characters could have been a tad more fleshed out. But that's a small quibble in an otherwise outstanding audiobook. If you're a fan of complex mysteries set against a backdrop of everyday life, 'The Descent' is a must-listen.
