David’s Ash is a masterclass in weary authority—his voice nails the exhaustion of a man carrying the weight of an entire civilization, while Aaron’s supporting characters crackle with individuality without ever overshadowing the tension. The dual narration works like a well-oiled engine, keeping the audiobook’s 12+ hours breezing by without a single sagging beat. That said, the production isn’t flawless. Some of the ambient effects—particularly the alien transmissions and gunfire—lean a little too heavy on the reverb, occasionally making crucial dialogue harder to catch in crowded scenes. And while the pacing is tight, the middle act drags just enough to make you question if the payoff will justify the build-up. But these are minor niggles in an otherwise stellar performance.
