Tavia Gilbert’s narration is a highlight of ‘White Kids.’ Her measured tone allows the material to resonate deeply without feeling preachy. The audiobook covers a wide range of topics, from privileged white kids’ reactions to police violence to their understanding of systemic racism, all woven together with Hagerman’s scholarly insights. While the pacing can feel slightly uneven at times—pausing too long on some sections and rushing through others—it ultimately stays engaging throughout. A specific critique is that it could benefit from more diverse voices within its narrative; however, this doesn’t detract significantly from its overall value as an educational and thought-provoking listen.
