Mason Lloyd’s narration is a standout, embodying Lukian’s brooding intensity and Peren’s razor-sharp wit with effortless precision. His delivery of Lukian’s thick Slavic accent is so authentic it feels like you’re eavesdropping on a secret military briefing, while Peren’s snarky, modern cadence grounds the story in relatable charm. The pacing is a highlight—Roth balances action sequences with quieter, emotionally charged moments that never drag. My only quibble is that some world-building moments feel crammed in, leaving the alien tech’s rules a bit fuzzy. A few more beats for the secondary characters (especially the team dynamics) would’ve added depth without weighing down the tight plot. That said, the chemistry between Lukian and Peren is electric, and Lloyd sells every charged glance and heated exchange with aplomb. The production quality is top-tier, with smooth editing that avoids the tinny pitfalls of some sci-fi audiobooks. If you’re craving a romance that’s equal parts romance and sci-fi spectacle, this is a solid bet—just don’t expect a ton of introspection from your immortal hero.
