I devoured Merlin's Blade in two sittings, so enthralled was I by Simon Bubb's engaging narration and Robert Treskillard's masterful storytelling. His portrayal of Merlin, in particular, is nuanced and deeply moving, capturing the complexities of this iconic figure with remarkable sensitivity. What I love most about this audiobook is its deliberate pacing, which expertly balances the need for momentum with the importance of introspection and character development. Treskillard's world-building is meticulous, and his exploration of the moral gray areas that often accompany great power is both thought-provoking and deeply satisfying. If I have any minor quibble, it's that the supporting cast sometimes feels a tad underdeveloped - I'd love to see more depth and backstory for some of the secondary characters.
