As someone who's heard their fair share of Arthurian retellings, I was pleasantly surprised by 'Merlin's Nightmare'. Treskillard masterfully weaves together historical elements with magical fantasy, creating a unique, engaging world that had me hooked from the start. Bubb's narration is a standout feature of this audiobook. He expertly captures Merlin's emotional journey, from his moments of doubt and fear to his bursts of defiance and courage. The pacing is spot-on, building tension and suspense with each chapter. My only critique is that some of the magical explanations can feel a bit info-dumpy at times, but it's a minor issue in an otherwise excellent listen.
