Editor's Review ★★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

I was thoroughly engrossed by 'Mountains of the Mind', which offers a captivating exploration of the symbolic and cultural significance of mountains. Simon Bubb's narration is superb, conveying the complexity and depth of Macfarlane's writing. The pacing is well-balanced, moving seamlessly between historical anecdotes, personal reflections, and cultural analysis. One minor quibble is that some of the more technical or specialized terms might have benefited from a brief explanation, but overall, the narrative is engaging and accessible. My only other criticism is that the audiobook could have done with a bit more dynamic range in the sound design to really bring the mountain landscapes to life. Nonetheless, this is a thought-provoking and beautifully narrated work that will resonate with anyone drawn to the outdoors and the human experience.
