About This Audiobook

Dahlia West delivers a rugged, modern Western romance where discipline meets desire—literally. Hawk Red Cloud is a Marine turned rancher who treats relationships like he treats reps in the gym: short, intense, and no attachments. Tildy Fletcher is the straight-A rule-follower who never sticks her toe out of line—until she meets a man who thrives on bending every one of hers. Their chemistry isn’t just sparks; it’s a controlled burn, and West keeps the pacing tight enough to feel like a three-minute plank hold—no slacking allowed. Mason Lloyd’s narration nails the duality: his Hawk is all grit and dry humor, while his Tildy is soft-spoken and relentlessly polite—until her voice drops into something dirtier than a stable floor. The result is a romance that feels earned, not forced, with enough tension to make you grip your phone tighter during the drive home.

Editor's Review ★★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

I went into *Hawk* expecting yet another alpha-hole-meets-restriction-fantasy cliché, but West and Lloyd turned my cynicism into something like respect. Lloyd’s performance is the real MVP here—he nails Hawk’s gruff restraint and Tildy’s simmering frustration so well that I could practically hear the eye rolls in her dialogue. The audiobook’s 7-hour runtime never drags, thanks to a relentless push-pull dynamic that feels fresh, not recycled. That said, the secondary characters—especially Tildy’s perpetually disappointed parents—border on caricature, and the third-act resolution leans a little too hard on the “military man fixes everything” trope. Still, the payoff works because West gives Hawk real flaws (his avoidance isn’t just sexy arrogance; it’s trauma-adjacent) and Tildy’s growth is slow-burn satisfying. If you love romances where the biggest conflict isn’t external, but internal, this is your audiobook. Just don’t listen on a long drive unless you’re okay with gripping the wheel like it’s Hawk’s belt buckle.
